Work on Pessall Brook
Work is taking place to ease flooding fears and improve waterways around the River Mease at Edingale.
A project at Pessall Brook is aiming to provide additional flood storage along with the creation of a new wetland area.
It is being carried out by the Trent Rivers Trust with funding from the Environment Agency and is part of a larger project to enhance the River Mease and surrounding waterways.
Trent Rivers Trust are delivering work along Pessall Lane on one of the county council land holdings. It is a similar nature of work to that undertaken in Edingale last year, from the same funding pot, to restore and enhance river and floodplain habitat. They are also constructing a bund which will hold flood waters which may slow down and reduce the flood peaks reaching the village, from the flows from the Pessall Brook at least. In 2022 they also delivered restoration works in this brook in the village of Coton-in-the-Elms so it is connecting up the schemes there and in Edingale.
